Final Sephora Haul of 2013

I felt 'forced' to make a purchase in order of maintaining my Sephora VIB status. I had to spend $70 in the next 35 days and knowing I can level up to Rouge next year I had to shelf the conflict of not wanting to lose my current position with not needing to buy more beauty products. Fortunately that $20 gift card came my way and I sucked it up and pulled the plug on a final 2013 purchase. It wouldn't have left such an aftertaste of regret had every single box not been opened, as evident by the torn corners. Just leads a gal to wonder where they were before my house. *shivers* Anyhoo...

Girls Run the World but I'm running for remover.

Girls might run the world but this shade had me running for remover. I think I got a bad bottle; it was separated with very thick purple pigment on the bottom and a very thin, water-like ingredient on top. I shook and shook and shook the bottle to mix the varnish and thought I did a pretty good job right up to the point of application. What looks purple dried a matte, cranberry t one; It was NOT the same shade represented in the bottle. The second coat o f Nasty Girl dragged some of the first, off. The third took a very long time to dry and I ended up smudging three of my nails. I decided to add a 4th coat for this photo and it just looked too thick. *sigh* No, I will not be wearing this again. Did you purchase the Girls r un the World set? Did you experience any issues with this or any other shade ? xoxo •Nancy-Lee

Deborah Lippmann : Ray of Light Swatch and Review

Wow. This is an amazing shade. The way the copper dances off of the cobalt is truly an intergalactic experience. One of the more expensive lines of polish that I own, Ray of Light is an electric indigo nail lacquer that is part of the 3D Holographic collection that is proportionately speckled with copper glitter. I start and finish as usual: First one coat of Nail Foundation form Butter LONDON and I top it all of with Hardware top coat. In between, I started with my first coat of Ray of Light. It went on with a gel-like consistency. It was goopy but not in a dried-out way. It was more like the product was a bit separated even after a through mixing. I waited about one minute and applied the second coat. I could see the same goopy consistency as I pulled the brush from the bottle but like magic, it smoothly and evenly melded together providing a gorgeous finish.

Deborah Lippmann : Private Dancer Review and Swatches

Private Dancer is a gilded ultraviolet that actually flips or changes color when seen from different angles. It's a cool, completely unique look that almost appears as though you dipped your fingertips in liquid metal. This is a brilliant shade of purple when you are looking straig h t at my nails but a tiny tilt and it revels it's secret - a mystical irrides cen se of copper. Look yet again and you're pretty sure it is burgundy. What ever the true identity, this polish is hot! And the ever-guessing hues make it an instant playful classic. I started off as I always do , shaping my nails with my Diamancel #2 nail file . I like to keep them short s o I can easily type and text . I prime with one coat of Nail Foundation by B utter LONDON , apply two coats of Private Dancer and finish with one coat of Hardware by B utter LONDON.

How To Remove Glitter Nail Polish

How about this little tip Deborah Lippmann shared with me:  How to easily and effortlessly remove glitter nail polish. I had the pleasure of meeting Deborah Lippmann at a Nordstrom Trend Show a few years ago and took the opportunity to asked her the secret to removing glitter nailpolish. The process she described was so simple, I didn't believe her. Until I put it to the test and could not believe how fast it works; no more scrubbing and scrubbing and finally filing off the rest of the glitter bits. You know what I'm talking about.
