Sunbaker. Butter London's Statement Maker.

A shade that summons the beaches of Summer's past, it is perfect for a Fall fling, too... just make sure you're ok with one night stands because this shade chipped the very next day. About 12 hours to be exact. I applied 1 coat of basecoat but did not finish my nails with a topcoat. Sunbaker offers the rare 1 coat coverage but I preferred the second coat for a richer look. The shade is an amazing rusted orange shimmer. Not glitter, a fine golden shimmer. Because of the significant chipping, I rate Sunbaker 3.5 stars. It's not the first shade that I would grab if I were painting my nails the night before an event. xoxo •Nancy-Lee

Disco Ball polish by Stila Cosmetics

Three coats. The first thing I thought of when I saw this in person was 'denim dream' because the shade and shimmer reminds me of my favourite pair of jeans.  Not that my favourite jeans are clear with blue, purple and teal glitter, mind you.  I was hoping Disco Ball would be opaque, as the shade is amazing and makes my heart sing.  I admit, I did not pay attention to the trace on the bottle so it turned out to be surprisingly sheer. No worries, I applied 1 coat of butterLONDON Nail Foundation followed by 3 coats of Disco Ball, with a minute between each coat.  Once it was time for the top coat, I applied 1 coat of Hardwear by butterLONDON, waited 2 minutes and applied a second coat.  First along the edge of all 5 nails then over the entire nail, which smooths out the polish that is now built up on the tip.  I seal the edge since highly glittered polishes feel rough; this sealing also prevents premature chipping.

Backstage Basics by butterLONDON

I was attending the Nordstrom Spring Trend Show March 31st and came across a tiny area of nail polishes where my eye caught a set by butterLONDON. Purchase the Backstage Basics box of Nail Foundation, Hardwear, Powder Room Remover and File then add your favourite colour and the set is $39.  This is a phenomenal deal as you're getting the polish for free: The included three products are valued at $39 before you factor the file and the full size colour that you are going to choose.  In need of a new base and top coat, I take the plunge and try something new.

The Black Knight in Shining Hardware

I look over the well-picked-through polishes and discover one I must call my own: The Black Knight.  The black base holds black, pink, blue and silver glitter. I take time with my DIY manicure, it's been a while since my hands have had some TLC and it shows.  Nail Foundation Flawless Base Coat goes on quick and dries matte.  The back of the bottle says it looks great worn alone and I have to agree - I would totally wear this base coat on it's own; It's a cool look.
