While I was scrolling through our twitter feed, I noticed that someone retweeted Julep's offering to new subscribers: get your first month for only 1¢. That's right one penny.
What is Julep? A monthly subscription service to nail polish, hand and foot care. Each box is valued at $40 and costs $19.99 per month. If you are not a current Julep Maven, you can click my link below and use my provided code to get your first Box for 1¢.In addition to the monthly boxes, you can purchase Mystery Boxes which are valued between $60 and $200, also for the cost of $19.99. I see the Mystery Box email pop up around times of celebration: St Patrick's Day and Spring/Easter. I have yet to take advantage of a Mystery Box but when I do... You know where to read all about it!
So... I followed the link that was in the tweet, take a small survey and am presented a set of 2 polishes and 1 hand scrub, for $19.99 before I apply my discount code. I am pleasantly surprised that have the ability to choose a different set if I am not satisfied with my original option. I opt to reselect and choose It Girl, a set of 3 bottles of polish. Even at full price this is a great deal. I'm thinking 3 bottles = paying $6.66 per bottle which rivals any drugstore/salon quality brand.
The box arrived timely and actually included 4 bottles, which to my surprise were full size.
My month's It Girl contained:
• Helena an ultra-saturated fuchsia
• Trina a deep aubergine frost which pays homage to the fabulous Trina Turk
• Diane an elegant forest grey-green
What I was not expecting was Fast Dry Top Coat, a quick-dry high shine top coat. I discover Julep polishes have a matte finish. I was also treated to 2 trial/foil packets, one of hand scrub and one of lotion I liked them both as well as a container of sequins, for jazzing up my nails I suppose.
I would be completely unreasonable for me to say this wasn't worth 1¢. In my opinion, it was worth $19.99... But $20 a month is a lot of money and polish over 12 months. $240 for 48 bottles in one year - if you choose a 3 polish set and receive a Top Coat every time. Hummm.... I hope not, as a Top Coat a month is a waste, unless they are counting on you giving it away. ;-) I am now reconsidering the sets which offer only 2 bottles. If I didn't, there wouldn't be room in my polish schedule for anything but Julep! haha!!
Stay tuned for my individual polish reviews, Gorgeous!!
