Saturday morning September 17th, I had the pleasure of attending the Nordstrom Fall trend show 'Red Carpet Glamour' at Valley Fair. I was treated to a beautiful shiny shopping bag at the door with a bottle of Nordies water, pencil, brochure and contest card. No, I didn't win. This time!
Starting a few minutes after 8am Clarins kicked off the show by providing the attendees a deluxe sample of Multi-Active Day early wrinkle correction cream and then spoke of Vital Light Serum. Laura Mercier followed by graciously tucking a fan brush inside our shiny Nordies tote and invited us to stop by their consultation stations to get a free sample of coordinating loose powder.
Estee Lauder kicked off a video educational series discussing their Idealist collection; Cooling Eye and Even Skin Tone illuminators. Dr Dennis Gross has added another anti-aging phenomenon, Age Erase Recovery Mask with Mega 10 Plus, to his arsenal. Bobbi Brown was filmed backstage using her newest skin foundation Mineral Makeup SPF 15. A matte powder that looks like perfect skin, not mineral makeup. Kate Sommerville finished the video series with Clinic to Go and True Lash Enhancing Eye Makeup Remover. A makeup remover that strengthens lashes to promote grown and removes even waterproof mascara? I'm in! Stay tuned for my review.
ReVive talked Moisturizing Renewel Cream and Philosophy demoed their world famous Oxygen Peel. Chanel had me dashing out early - to make sure I could score one of the very few Limited Edition eyelash curlers! What girl doesn't want to curl their lashes with Chanel?! We flipped for Dior's newest beauty addition Flip Eyeshadows, palettes that flip open and closed with one finger.

M•A•C's Posh Paradise drew me into an 11:00am consultation that I will cover on my blog www.fashionCHICsta.com and The Red of Hell was all the rage during Guerlain's show, proclaiming that this French fashion powerhouse has been dressing red carpets for 184 years. Trish McEvoy's mini makeup kit Voyager is full of Fall must haves including the needed brushes and Burberry 'Body', Gendarme cologne, a staple in LL Cool J's wardrobe and Elle Saab completed the final scene: Show-Stopping Scents.
I ran to the Chanel counter during LL Cool J's video... I know how these trend shows work. There is a total catch 22: If you sit up front to get a good view of the runway, you risk missing the short supply deals at the various counters. If you sit in the back to score the deals, you won't see the show and risk not wanting any of the specials. This is the first show that I have not completed. But c'mon. It's Chanel. The show broke at 9am and ladies and gents alike moved from the stage area, outside the e-Bar, into the store.
Laura Mercier to the left Philosophy to the right, I was already conversing with Kate Sommerville over the True Lash Enhancing Eye Makeup Remover when the mob moved in. I made my purchase and cruised to Clinique where I was treated to a Really Black GWP Quickliner for Eyes with my purchase of All About Eyes eye cream. My personal 5 star favourite.
It was 20 minutes until my consultation, a.k.a. makeover, with M•A•C but I thought I'd check in early anyway. Turned out to be a good thing, they were able to take me right away. I was given a purple smokey eye, treated myself to a limited edition formula lipstick, Mattene, in Rare Exotic. A hot pink matte lippy that stays creamy, never dull or dried out.
After my mini-makeover I headed to Bath & Body works..... but that's another story! If you're not familiar with Norstrom's trend show's, the generally happen two times per year, March and September and as of last year, they added a third show to November. Check out the event tab at the bottom of their home page for happenings at the store near you!
