#9 How important you think education is.
It's not that I believe primary education is key, skip the secondary, I believe that you must establish basic fundamentals as a youth or you will struggle your entire adulthood, whether you go on to college or not. There is too much of a political snowball to start rolling on a beauty blog but the foundation of our educational system was crumbling when I crossed the stage in 1993. Classroom capacities have quadrupled yet we are still relying on 1 teacher - how many student can they actually impact?
Like technology, the way we learn, interact and even think has changed but our educational system has remained static since the 40's. I believe that education starts in the home not in the classroom. 47 parents are hoping 1 teacher can raise their child. No, you raise your child, they will teach your child - that's how it works. With unemployment rates in the double digits, why aren't more parents in the classroom to assist their children's growth? Just the presence of another adult would not only be appreciated but would settle the back of the classroom.
I leave you with this: If we stopped telling our children that 'Those who can't do, teach' our children would understand and respect the job a teacher is trying to do and that is preparing your child to exceed in a market rich with global competition.
