If you've been wondering how I do it, I buy 10 Sunday papers from my local CVS. I pay for the papers, go some place quite in the store where I am out of the way and take only the coupons inserts: RedPlum, SmartSource, P&G, and sometimes Target. I then place those 10 papers that I have just de-couponed next to the newspaper stand where the cashiers offer them up as a free alternative. I did ask for the Manager's approval, first. BTW, my 'some place quiet' is the $199.00 lawn furniture set, it's quite comfortable
| 88% savings at Rite Aid |
I had a redeeming experience at Rite Aide this time around. My first impression was so poor I was looking for another location to shop and decided to give it one more try. I'm glad I did, the second time around was much more pleasant. I only stopped in for the Breathe Right free and the Viactiv Calcium chews cheap. I left with 10 packs of CareFree panty liners all free (1) Loreal Skin Genesis facial cleanser my coupon brought it down to $2.99 (2) ClearEyes paid $2.99 each and received a $1up (2) Precise creams free (5) Precise patches free (1) Breathe Right free (2) Viactiv on sale for $6 - $2MFG & a $2up!!
22 items @ $110.28 My cost: $13.97 Total savings: $96.31 / 88%
AND... I left with $17up for next time shopping - The KCL would consider this a $3.03 moneymaker trip - basically I was 'paid' $3.03 to take everything in the picture above.

The Skin Genesis is $24.99 on sale for $11.99 less the CVS $3 off a $10 cosmetic purchase coupon and a $2.00 L'Oreal skin care coupon = $6.99

My biggest shout out here is: LeanPockets: $2.00 each - $0.75MFG and the Frenches Mustard / Dipping sauce pack. Buy the mustard and get the sauce for free + there is a $0.30 Frenches MFG bringing it down to $1.42 for both items!
| All this for $38 ~ BIG savings @ Lucky |
I learned a valuable lesson at Lucky the first time I shopped there: If you plan on using a $10 off a $50 Lucky purchase coupon, you have to use it AFTER all of the MFG coupons - at least this is how my store operates. Also, the front line manager must sign off on this discount, so prepare your cashier that you have one before she starts to ring your order or it will take longer to check out. I also remind them to call the manager once they start to ring my MFG coupons.
So I made sure to keep a running total of cost after the MFG discounts on my calculator to ensure I would cross that $50 mark. I should note, there is an assorted bag of 22 chips that I forgot to put in the pic, similar to the one I posted last week.
Let me be honest, I had to get the manager involved with this transaction. The cashier was a pain in my ass and was trying to refuse some of my coupons because she was LAZY. She looked at a coupon and said, "No!" then tried to hand it back to me without even scanning it. The Manager gladly accepted those coupons which was a total of $5.00 in savings; which will pay for a gallon of gas! Keep a copy of the store's coupon policy in your binder, this is the second time I had to refer to it with an employee. More importantly, stick up for yourself, big saver! Don't let a huffy puffy customer behind you or a cashier give you a hard time. This is YOUR hard-earned money we're saving!!
Highlights: The Ken's dressing was 2/$4, I had a B1G1F coupon + $1.00 MFG. So 2 items: 1 of those coupons gave me 1 bottle for free ($2 savings) the second coupon took $1 off of the bottle I was paying for. So 2 bottles for $1.00 / $0.50 each. I bought 2 sets. I would have bought more but they expire in Oct/Nov... It's May... We don't eat that much salad...
I found the Finish on clearance for $3.57 and I had a $3.00MFG = $0.57. The Febreze candles were on clearance for $3.37 and I used (3) $1.00MFG = $2.57 each. The Maxwell House was clearance for $2.27 less my $0.55MFG = $1.72 each. The Febreze fabric refresher was on sale for $2.99 less my $1.00MFG = $1.99 and best deal is the new Newton cookies: regularly $4.39 on sale for $2.69 less my $1.00 coupon! That's a whole lot of yum for $1.69!! I bought 5 packages!!
28 items @ Full retail $197.41 My cost: $38.03 Total savings: $159.38 / 72%
How did you do this week?
